If you have deleted an email address and would like to reuse it before the 90-day holding period is complete you will need to do the following:
Step 1: Assign the email address to the original owner (the original owner is determined by the Yahoo! ID that accepted the address).
- Sign in to your Yahoo! Mail account.
- Click "Mail Upgrades" in the upper-right corner of the page.
- Click "Manage Service."
- Click "Email Management."
- Click "Create Address."
- Enter the email address you would like to reuse in the Personal Address box.
- Enter the Yahoo! Mail address of the original owner in the Recipient's Email Address box.
- Click "Submit Change."
- Click "Yes, Send Invitation."
- The invitation will need to be accepted by the original Yahoo! ID.
Step 2: Once the invitation has been accepted by the original owner, edit the address so that it may be released for reuse.
- Return to the Email Management area.
- Click "Edit" next to the address you would like to reuse.
- Change the User's Personal Address to "temporary."
- The original owner will be sent an Email Address Edit Notification. Have them select the third option: "Yes, accept the new address and free my existing address for another person to use."
Step 3: Assign the address to a new owner.
- Return to the Email Managment area.
- Click "Create Address."
- Enter the email address you would like to reuse in the Personal Address box.

- Return to the Email Managment area.
- Click on "Delete" next to the "temporary" email address you would like to remove.
