How do I use an email address that I have deleted before the 90 day wait period?
If you have deleted an email address and would like to reuse it before the 90-day holding period is complete you will need to do the following:

Step 1: Assign the email address to the original owner (the original owner is determined by the Yahoo! ID that accepted the address).

  1. Sign in to your Yahoo! Mail account.
  2. Click "Mail Upgrades" in the upper-right corner of the page.
  3. Click "Manage Service."
  4. Click "Email Management."
  5. Click "Create Address."
  6. Enter the email address you would like to reuse in the Personal Address box.
  7. Enter the Yahoo! Mail address of the original owner in the Recipient's Email Address box.
  8. Click "Submit Change."
  9. Click "Yes, Send Invitation."
  10. The invitation will need to be accepted by the original Yahoo! ID.
Step 2: Once the invitation has been accepted by the original owner, edit the address so that it may be released for reuse.
  1. Return to the Email Management area.
  2. Click "Edit" next to the address you would like to reuse.
  3. Change the User's Personal Address to "temporary."
  4. The original owner will be sent an Email Address Edit Notification. Have them select the third option: "Yes, accept the new address and free my existing address for another person to use."
Step 3: Assign the address to a new owner.
  1. Return to the Email Managment area.
  2. Click "Create Address."
  3. Enter the email address you would like to reuse in the Personal Address box.
  4. Enter the Yahoo! Mail address of the new owner in the Recipient's Email Address box.
  5. Click "Submit Change."
  6. An invitation will be sent to the user inviting them to accept their new invitation. The email address will not be active until they accept the invitation.
Step 4: Delete the temporary address
  1. Return to the Email Managment area.
  2. Click on "Delete" next to the "temporary" email address you would like to remove.
